Alliance Women’s Medical Group provides pregnancy testing services. A urine pregnancy test can deliver results within minutes. However, in the very early stages of pregnancy, there might not be sufficient pregnancy hormone in the urine for a positive result. Therefore, we also provide a blood test for pregnancy. This test, known as a “quantitative hcg,” involves drawing a standard vial of blood and sending it to our lab for analysis. It quantifies the exact amount of the HCG pregnancy hormone in the blood, with any level above 5 indicating pregnancy. Results are available the following day, and our office will contact you to discuss the findings.

These pregnancy tests do not determine the exact gestational age (“how far along” you are), the possibility of multiple gestation (twins, etc.), or the health/viability of the pregnancy. For this detailed information, an ultrasound evaluation is recommended.
